From Trend

Spring 2021
Motion Graphic

This project came out of an interest in environmental issues and the industries that I personally, as well as many other people my age, partake in. The final form of this project took the shape of a motion graphic that was meant to inform and to influence the buying habits of people who consume clothing from brands who are considered to be “Fast Fashion” or unsustainable.

As an additional part of this project, I made a series of posters. I wanted to use the prescribed visual language of fashion advisements to critique the industry the posters seem to be promoting at first glance.

While I enjoyed the posters, I wanted the final project to be more dynamic and engage the viewer in a stronger way. I decided I wanted to create a motion graphic that confronted the audience with some of the more environmentally damaging effects and malpractices the fashion industry is participating in.

The final aesthetic for this project combined images from fashion advertisement with custom paper animations. I brought the paper aesthetic into this project to help highlight just how disposable our clothing has become in recent years.
